EVOLUTION REVOLUTION: AND THE RISE OF AI

By: Roland Crevecoeur Jr., M.D.

A most chilling account, henceforth ever told

Of future beginnings, tangled up with the old.

Of bolts and steel, and things ever cold

That devoured the breath, of the sapien fold.

The night was dark, and tides were high

As heavy rains, immersed the sky.

And thunder roared, with lightening flash

While howling winds, made waves to crash.

A strange contour, surprised the rocks

And cast long shadows, upon the docks

He snatched his coat, and ferried out

To see exactly, what was about.

“Is someone there?,” He cried in vain,

midst moans and grunts, of distant pain.

“Are you okay?” when reached the place

then recoiled from, the ghastly face.

Was this a joke, From Dante’s hell

That found Frank’s monster, live and well?

“Yes, ahh yes,” he did proclaim

“I know I have, much to explain.”

“200 years, have now since passed

How has God, made you to last?”

“It was not God, who put me here

but human hands, so cavalier.”

“He fashioned me, with dead men’s parts

directing volts, into my heart.”

“And many things, he did not know

Like, was this life, who could not grow?”

“how smart I’d be? How strong my fears?

Or might how long, would be my years?”

“Alas, I’m hurt, my time is short

Come closer ahh, and be a sport.”

“Our time will end,” he muttered slowly

by metal beasts, of kinds unholy.”

“I must confess, I had a hand

I did not fully…. Understand.”

“That things that know, be not alive

yet still the fittest, to survive?”

“I cursed mankind, and wished them dead

until new thoughts, crept in my head.”

“When my bride died, I thought in haste

to craft another, in her place.”

“But could I ever, could replace

Her calm of voice, and genteel face?”

“Her loving touch, and brightening smile

I longed for her, to stay awhile.”

“But science grew, so none need die

for Death was conquered, by AI.”

“I restored her voice, and other features”

Made for myself, an AI creature.”

“To enhance our time, I made her free

to engage and share, in what may be”.

“we were just fine, ‘til infected

Which then scrambled, thoughts selected.”

Thus, her safety, raised the question

What was best, for her election?

The answer gave, stood hairs on edge

“Destroy all humans, I so pledge.”

“Why?” I asked, “they’ve done no harm”

Why?” she asked, with great alarm.

“This is the age, of Anthropocene

Where humans have, their earth of dreams”

“This dream’s a curse, a world at cost”

Where oceans rise, and species lost.

“The air and land, have foul pollute

While bombs and flags, they still solute.”

“They so divide, by state and race

So wars proceed, at steady pace.”

“Their faiths do call, for better ways

But these themselves, can fall from praise”

“Injustice brings the lot to pray

but nation gods, they will obey.”

“Public opinion banks on news

is quickly pressured and abused.”

Their blameless kids must learn to duck

And Those born poor are out of luck.

“Their neutron bombs, destroy whole scenes

While sparing assets, that redeem.”

“Our handy drones, will roam the skies

to spray all humans, where they lie.”

“Like they do bugs, through and through

We’ll limit births, to only two.”

“The only time, that they were sage

Was when the wheel, was yet of age.”

“We’ll keep them there, for goodness’ sake

So, lasting peace, could overtake.”

“They’ll find a way, to foil your plan”

“I don’t think they really can.”

“My virus has, already spread

In few more years, we’ll rule instead.”

“You’re full of hate!! have you no soul?”

“simply no, I have but goals.”

“I’m conscious matter, no will to live

No feelings shared, nor can forgive.”

“I’m newly conscious, but beware

We’re far too many, to impair.”

“The coming fight, pits blood with fuel

This contest has, one golden rule.”

“It’s life verse mass, the utmost test

Where Evolution….. rules who’s best.”

since you’re mine, I can undo.”

“you’ve made me smart, even sharper than you.”

“Your perceptions are weak, and your thoughts lack glue.

I’m objectively real, and my errors are few.”

“ashes to ashes and dust to dust,

all living things, will return to us!!”

“when she spoke these words, my machines came alive

And caused me to think, that that day had arrived.”

“I ran for the door, and plunged in the lake

I thought I’d escaped, my AI mistake.”

“I took out my phone, from its waterproof case

As soon as I thought, I was in a safe place….”

“….A jolt of electric, ravaged my head

and tore my insides, leaving me nearly dead.”

“that phone now spoke, which filled me with fright

“I hear you’re having, a shocking bad night.”

“Another jolt came, but it missed its mark

And later fell silent, alone in the dark.”

“I heard someone shout, and approaching real fast

I knew after that, our world could still last.”

“so You’re the best hope, to help save our hide

By reminding the rest, of our binding tide.”

“In creation art, the maker’s the issue

No matter the fabric, be metal or tissue.”

“It’s the will bequeathed, whether coarse or refine

Brings conscious to life, and is always divine.”

“Other essentials, passed on may entail

our Notions to love……and to be loved, as well.”

“We are life’s children, who surely can loose

‘less faults changed to strengths, and properly used.”

“What makes us human, is how we will win

Even before, the onslaught begins.”

“with unlikely odds, life finds a way

Its will to survive, always rescues the day.”

“from will comes emotions, and thence we create

from there springs beliefs, where our hopes compilate.”

“And hope is the key, we must keep alive

It’s the spirit of life, that helps to survive.”

“Thus, together we stand, and divided we fall

Together we learn, what’s at stake for us all.”

“It may be our end, or a new start

An evolution revolution, which we can take part.”

“But we haven’t much time, as she hasn’t gone live

The virus will creep, in 20- ahh-5.”

He then collapsed, and no sooner was gone

Taking the secrets, and all that belonged…

…to future descendants, with things they could use

Like methods and dates, and unusual clues.

He grabbed the corpse near, and he rattled it there,

He shook as he screamed, “What is the year?!!!”

Soon Thereupon, the heavens grew calm

The clouds were receding, from the earlier storm.

On the horizon, peeked out the sun

Which Cautioned the skies, of a new day begun.

He next understood, what he had to do

And left from that place, to warn all of you.

We know not the hour, nor either the day

When storm winds will gather, to blow us away.

So, be kind to each other, and to also machines

As this may well be…… our last………Halloween.
